The Irish Heritage Railway Group was formed in 2008 by a group of volunteers with the aim of establishing the first broad gauge (5ft. 3in./1,600mm) heritage line in the Irish republic. Work has already begun in earnest and we are currently
completing a series of site surveys with a view to compiling a shortlist of suitable routes. This task is on course to be completed by autumn 2009.
Group meetings are held on a monthly basis to provide progress updates and to decide upon the best way forward for the organisation. Sub-committees are also formed at various times to deal with issues that arise and these convene as and when required.
