Iarnrod Oidhreachta: Heritage Railway Irish Heritage Railway Group: www.heritagerailway.ie
The Irish Heritage Railway Group was formed in 2008 by a group of volunteers with the aim of establishing the first broad gauge (5ft. 3in./1,600mm) heritage line in the Irish republic. Work has already begun in earnest and we are currently in discussions with landowners situated along two shortlisted routes. This task is on course to be completed by winter 2010/2011.

Group meetings are held on a monthly basis to provide progress updates and to decide upon the best way forward for the organisation. Sub-committees are also formed at various times to deal with issues that arise and these convene as and when required.
